1. 0 The current system for gated protection of tram crossings
Sporveien Oslo as (hereafter Sporveien) is, among other duties, responsible for the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure for the tram network (Trikken) in Oslo, Norway. Several sections of the tram network in Oslo are suburban lines (Lilleaker (L13) and Ekeberg (L19) lines) operating at high speeds (up to 70 km/hr) on dedicated alignments. These sections do however have level plan crossings with both highway and/or pedestrian traffic. These crossings are usually equipped with gate protection to insure both the safe operation of the tram system and the safe crossing of the tracks by both vehicles and pedestrians. All of the sixteen (16) existing gate-crossing installations on these two lines are old, unreliable and expensive to maintain. They need to be removed, renewed or replaced. In addition, there is a need for upgrading the quality of these crossings by using modern technology and advanced scada techniques to insure safe, reliable and continuous operation.
2. 0 Information about possible new solutions for gated protection of tram crossings
Sporveien is interested in obtaining information about the current offerings by the industry for gated protection of level crossings for highway vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
We would like to receive product information for state-of-the-art solutions designed specifically for tram operations (short distance between stations, many opening / closings per day, reliable operation, quick repair). In addition we require information about reference installations and clients where the presented solutions can be seen and experienced and where there is an opportunity to speak with the client / operator concerning their experiences with the installation.
