A) oil sump must be removed and cleaned. b) oil strainer (pick up) should be replaced before re‐fitting new turbo to remove residual carbon/sludge build up (refer to picture). Please ensure your fitter replaces that component. Otherwise, it may cause another turbo to fail again! c) remove the gauze filter that is within the banjo bolt that is bolted onto its inner block. It is a tiny gauze that starves the turbo when blocked (refer to picture). // You will be surprised how blocked by residual carbon/sludge build up both are - gauze within oil sump strainer and the gauze within the banjo bolt) ; and no matter how many oil changes you do it won´t unblock them. // ************************************************************ d) oil pump should be removed and checked. e) oil cooler and filter assembly should be removed and cleaned. f) remove charge air cooler, drain off any oil inside and clean thoroughly. g) check and clean all inlet and outlet hoses. h) if oil has leaked from previously damaged turbo or engine into exhaust, check exhaust system for contamination/blockage (catalyst, dpf etc.) i) remove brake vacuum pump to check for debris/carbon and clean as necessary. .
